Pronouns and Possessive Adjectives

We use pronouns (me, you, her, him, us, them) when it is certain which person or thing we are talking about.

Let’s first review the subject pronouns:

Now, let’s work on object pronouns:

Examples:

  • I don’t remember her well.
  • He takes me every day from the school.
  • Mrs. Laura is our English Teacher and I like her very much.
  • When will you take him for shopping?
  • Don’t disturb me!
  • Yes, I like eating lamb meat.
  • In our school, everybody likes her.
  • This blue car is mine (my car).
  • This is my son. He is 10 years old. How old is yours?
  • I don’t like my pencil case. But I like hers (her pencil case). –

Possessive Adjectives:

  • my
  • your
  • his / her / its
  • our
  • their

Examples:

  • Is this your car?
  • No, this is not my car. My car is the black one.
  • My sister lives in Trabzon. Where does your sister live?
  • Their house is near us.
  • The dog broke its leg.

Possessive Pronouns:

  • mine
  • yours
  • his / hers / its
  • ours
  • theirs

Examples:

  • This blue car is mine (my car).
  • This is my son. He is 10 years old. How old is yours?
  • I don’t like my pencil case. But I like hers (her pencil case).
